Kelly Steven Wood

Kelly Steven Wood November 30, 1948 - February 2, 2011 Beloved first-born son of Ed and Edith Wood, a Bakersfield native, who attended South High School 1964-1969, passed away from Heart Disease. Kelly served in the Army 1969-1971, fought in the Vietnam War, was injured in the line of duty and received the Purple Heart. He worked as an Automotive Machinist, rebuilding engines for most of his life. Kelly was an airplane, dragster and hot rod enthusiast, he loved every aspect of cars, from restoring to racing. Kelly was well-known for having a sharp tongue, quick wit and short fuse, he will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Kelly was preceded in death by his father, Ed Wood. He is survived by mother, Edith Wood; his daughters, Karen Stewart, husband Robert; Kimberly Thorpe, husband Darren; and their mother, Darlene Wood; brother, Dale Wood; sister, Shirley Prigmore, fiance Andrea Wilson; and his eight grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 18, at 2:30 p.m., at Greenlawn Southwest. A Celebration of Life will follow at Pizzaville USA after service. www.baekersfield.com/obits
