Danny and I were "best friends" from kindergarten through high school. We used to trade comic books (we lived near each other) and rode our bicycles together in the neighborhood and sometimes to elementary school. We also went to South's winter formal our senior year as best friends. He was a terrific friend and I still miss him. Following is info from his obituary, published in the Bakersfield Californian 11/5/92:

Danny passed away in the fall of 1992. He was born in Bakersfield 1/8/1950. Attended local schools, graduated South 1968, University of California Berkeley 1972, and University of California Medical School, Irvine 1976. Completed a residency in radiology at Long Beach Veterans Hospital and trained in neurovadiology at University of California Medical Center. He was on the staff of City of Hope for several years before contracting for the radiology department at Los Angeles Community Hospital. Danny was a member of the American Medical Association, the Los Angeles County Medical Association and the Automatic Instrument Collectors Society. Survivors at the time of his death included his parents, Bert and Phyllis LaMoyne Beene, brother Joel (also a physician) and his family of Flint, MI, and many caring friends. Danny is buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Bakersfield.

I liked Dan. He was always so nice. I'm glad to hear that he attained so much before his passing. I'm sure he was wonderful at what he did.

Daniel was a best friend from junior high, high school, and beyond. We were roommates for 3 years in college at Berkeley, and remained friends until his death. We shared a lot of interests like coin and stamp collecting-hobbies of a mostly bygone era. I remember and miss that friendship as an irreplaceable part of my life.

Daniel was always kind and such a nice guy, as I remember him. Rest In Peace Daniel.

Mike, I'm glad you both were great friends. I'm sorry you lost one of your good friends. That loss hurts very deeply. I know, I lost my best friend also.
