In Memory

Edward Leon Arnold

Edward Leon Arnold

Eddie Arnold was a loquacious individual who never said a bad word about anyone.  In high school he was fast friends with many and was always ready to join any conversation, with anybody, about whatever you wanted to talk about. He was upbeat and had a good sense of humor.  His friends and associates were as diverse as his many interests.

Born in Alameda in 1950, his family eventually made their way to Bakersfield where he attended South High for his first three years.  He graduated from BHS in 1968, but will always be a part of our South High class.

Eddie was a member of both the Rebel Band and the Orchestra, specializing on the French Horn, one of the more difficult instruments to master.

He evidently left Bakersfield after high school and married Linda Tose in Sacramento, 1976.

He married for the second time in 1992, to Carolyn White in Reno.

As the Reunion Committee formed last month, it was clear that nobody knew much about Eddie's whereabouts, so we contacted Carolyn White (also goes by Carolyn Arnold) in Reno.  We found her through the online White Pages app.

She informed us that Eddie Arnold died of a brain tumor in 2003.  After additional discussion, it was clear that we had found our Eddie L Arnold.

One last note about Eddie, in the spring of 1967 he ran for, and won by popular vote, the office of ASB Vice President.  This certainly attests to his popularity, persuasiveness, and verbal abilities.  Just about everybody liked him, even though some did not take him seriously all the time.

For unknown reasons, Eddie switched over to Bakersfield High for his senior year.

Eddie and I were more than just friends in High School. We were brothers. His mom and mine worked together. And we spent many summer days hanging out at each others house. I lost touch with Eddie when he transferred to BHS in 1967. Rest in peace Eddie.

I was in band and orchestra with Eddie, also in many of our regular classes. He had such a great sense of humor and kept us entertained. Eddie was such a positive person! So sorry to hear of his passing.
