Funeral was held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Survived by parents Mr. & Mrs. Frank Wilkerson of Bakersfield; widow, Randa; sons Rodney and Joe Nathan Jr.; daughters Lannette and LaMyka; five brothers and two sisters.

An hour of meditation will be held at 8 p.m. today in Rucker’s Mortuary for Joe Nathan Wilkerson, 24, 1911 Madison Street, who died Jan. 12. Funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. A.L. Dirks officiating. Mr. Wilkerson was a native of Bakersfield. Survivors include the widow, Randa; parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilkerson of Bakersfield; 2 sons, Rodney and Joe Nathan Jr.; 2 daughters, Lannette and LaMyka; 5 brothers, Elmer and Charlie Hughes, Floyd and Windell Wilkerson of Bakersfield and Frank Wilkerson Jr. of Carson City, Nev.; and 2 sisters, Mae Frances Harris and Carol Wilkerson of Bakersfield. Pallbearers will be Bill Phillips, Samuel Williams, Tyrone Mayrsoc, L.K. Kindrex, John Cotton and Willie Lee Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Walls, Bill Shirley and Walter Hester.

It seems he must have only been 25 when he died. And left his wife with 4 little ones. It seems so sad that he had no grave marker. I wonder if it's still that way?
