Tex (Glen) O'Brien and I met up twice in 1970, while serving in Vietnam. I had been in country about four months, serving with the Ist Cav, when I received notice he was stationed nearby. I don't recall his unit, but he was Army Aviation, at Base Bearcat, about 50 miles north of Saigon. I recieved permission to catch a lift to see him for a day, he returned the visit a short time later. My unit transfered to north of Da Nang a short time later and we lost touch. We got together after returning home.
He passed away 02/17/2015, and is buried at the Bakersfield National Cemetary.
Tex was a childhood friend. First on Linton Drive in east Bakersfield, and next on Eve St. in the Wayside school attendance area. I had to move away to the Fruitvale area for junior high before moving back to South High. I just never felt my childhood friends would grow old and die leaving a hole in my heart.
