After grad school at UMass (M.S. in Geology) I worked as a geologist for state and regional public and environmental health agencies.When I got tired of working in the black flies and/or freezing rain, I returned to school to get a Masters in Library Science (hat tip to Miss Motte). I worked at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2006 until I retired in December 2017 as Head of the Science and Engineering Library. It may come as a surprise, but librarians have no time to read, so I've started on the pile of books beside my chair. My future holds a lot of travel, cooking and some time at our camp in Maine.

School Story

I remember going off campus with Shelley Shell to edit Rebel Yell galleys at the printer. It didn't usually take long, so we would pad the time and have a second lunch at the Mexicali. I could have two lunches in those days without consequences.

I'm very sorry to hear about Barbara. We made a connection around the controversy over using the Confederate flag in 1968-69. She was thoughtful and kind, and I was really hoping to see her again.
